Nirvanna Revenge out on Tuesday/Wednesday

nirvanarevenge iPhone Rhythm Game Nirvana: Tapulous Nirvana Revenge Coming Soon To The App Store
It seems that every time Tapulous releases a new band-specific Tap Tap Revengegame, people always come up with other bands that they would like to see the series molded after instead. Well this time Tapulous has heard your cries loud and clear, as the often requested Nirvana Revenge will be hitting the App Store this Wednesday (5/12).
Nirvana Revenge, like the many band-specific Tap Tap Revenge games before it, features a custom UI that gives the game a grungy Nirvana-like feel.  It also features the same stable and responsive rhythm game performance you have come to expect from the series, four difficulty levels, 13 iconic tracks, and Bluetooth multiplayer.
But that’s not all.  For the first time ever in a Tap Tap Revenge game, you will be able to listen to narrative vignettes for each track included in the game, which offer back-stories related to the songs and comments about the band and their music.  The narrative vignettes are from the “Nightly Nirvana Sessions” courtesy of KNDD, 107.7 in Seattle.  How’s that for additional content?
“Nirvana ushered in a new era in music in the 90’s and had an enormous impact with their culture-shifting sound,” said Tim O’Brien, VP of business development at Tapulous. “Nirvana’s music appeal reaches beyond its own generation and is now being introduced to a younger generation of music fans who are discovering the band’s music for the first time. That’s why we’re especially excited to add Nirvana to our growing Tap Tap Revengefamily, and the bring Nirvana Revenge App to a whole new generation of music fans.”

  • “All Apologies” (In Utero, 1993)
  • “Breed” (Nevermind, 1991)
  • “Breed” (Live at Reading, 2009)
  • “Come As You Are” (Nevermind, 1991)
  • “Heart Shaped Box” (In Utero, 1993)
  • “In Bloom” (Nevermind, 1991)
  • “Lithium” (Nevermind, 1991)
  • “Lithium” (Live at Reading, 2009)
  • “Rape Me” (In Utero, 1993)
  • “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (Nevermind, 1991)
  • “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (Live at Reading, 2009)
  • “Stay Away” (Nevermind, 1991)
  • “You Know You’re Right” (Nirvana, 2002)
Nirvana Revenge will be available in the App Store for $4.99 on Wednesday, May 12th.
I had a chance to give the game a try over the weekend and I can honestly say that it plays just as well as any other Tap Tap Revenge game, but what sets it apart are the narrative vignettes.  It’s a nice treat hearing what the entire crew thought about their own music, and where the inspiration came from for some of their tracks.  If you aren’t into that sort of thing, you can always skip the entire narrative and go straight to the music.
We will be sure to remind you this Wednesday when Nirvana Revenge is available.  We don’t want you missing out on making your iPhone smell like teen spirit.
