I was reading an article as I wanted to find more information about the upcoming Tap Tap Revenge 3.
I finally found something and I'm here to tell you.
As you all know that Apple released their new iPhone OS conveniently called iPhone OS 3.0 which comes out for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The new firmware gives many features to the devices but mostly it touches up on a lot of API's for applications.
As you all know at the moment TTR2 already supports Push Notifications which is used when contestants send game battles and this features might also go further by notificating when there is more news.
So when the Tapulous CEO was interviewed, he was asked what features could new the game include.
Well I have all the information here so let's begin:
Users will get to design parts of the game soon. Tapulous will start by letting users design background art and themes, and compete to get them included in the game. Eventually, they'll open up more of the platform to designers and developers, too. And indie bands might get a pipeline into the game, too.
More premium apps are on the way. Tapulous has a new deal with Universal Music to build several new music games. The first, featuring pop artist Lady Gaga. It's currently the no. 60 paid app in the App Store. Artists like these apps because they bring them closer to fans, who might buy concert tickets or other music. Labels and publishers like these apps because they bring in new revenue from new streams besides iTunes MP3 downloads.
Tapulous is financially healthy. The company has sold 300,000 of its paid games, and via revenue splits from those sales and in-app advertising, has made about $1.5 million in revenue since launching last summer. The company plans to break even this summer, and could do a couple million in sales this year.
In-App Purchases will be coming to the game but this will mean that the application will be a paid app as the Apple CEO said "Free apps will remain Free". As Tapulous has already striked a deal with Universal Music there will be a bundle of downloadable content up for grabs when TTR3 is released into the App Store.
And all this in July where the company will unveil Tap Tap Revenge 3. I cant wait.
