The new firmware update for the iPod and iPhone has been out for some time. After looking at some statistics I found out that only 20% of iPod users have upgraded unlike the 76% for the iPhone. Personally I think this is because of the price as its £5.99.If you are a good person you will get the software here for a price.
If you are a cheap skate, I will be giving you a quick run through on how to get the software update. Beware that if you use my method you WILL have to re-sysnc all of your music and applications and you will also loose all of your application DATA. So, if you have downloaded songs from TTR2, you will have to re download them..
I am not responsible if my method fails so please read carefully.
Here is the guide.
1. Download the software update here.
This could take up to 3 hours depending on your Internet connection. It is best to disconnect to the Internet now.
2. After that has finished download, connect your device in and wait for your PC to notice it is connected.
3. You should disconnect from the Internet as iTunes will communicate to the server and it will wreck the method. You will loose your DATA. Open up iTunes and go to your iPod/iPhone Tab..
4. Hold CTRL and click Restore at the same time. A window should pop up and you will have to find where you downloaded the file.
5. iTunes should sort out the rest and automatically patch the device.
If anything has gone wrong press restore with holding CTRL and it should go back to normal. If this hasn't worked send me a comment.
